We have been working on Salsa XR for 6 years, and during this time we updated the app to all new XR headsets in the market. Each new piece of hardware created a new space to improve the app’s features.
It started with Magic Leap, the first headset for mixed reality. We created a decent prototype using the Magic Leap UI kit, but we needed something more affordable and consumer-oriented.
Then Oculus released their Quest headset, the first consumer headset in the market. It had better features compared to the Magic Leap. Later Oculus released Pass Through, an experimental API that allowed users to see through the cameras. With Quest we instantly received a prototype of a mixed reality headset. It was not the perfect solution, but it was affordable and available immediately out of the box.
Next generation of Oculus Quest showed off its better quality cameras. They were still black and white, but at that time Oculus Quest 2 was the closest thing we had to a MR headset.
Now Salsa XR is available on Quest 2, Quest Pro, and Quest 3 as well. We’re thrilled to see what’s coming next in XR, as the progress will surely augment the existing user experience. Download Salsa XR for free from Meta Store: https://vr.meta.me/s/1QAKHVsrPL6QXIP
