Our previous VR rides covered territories of cities: Amsterdam, Scheveningen, and Stockholm. We enhanced the plot of the rides with fantasy element and based them on the historical, architectural, and cultural contexts of the locations. Apart from that, we invented numerous Easter eggs that would highlight the features of the locations and entertain the audience.
The new VR ride around the stadium is focused solely on this venue. The client’s team requested to stick to as much realism as possible. Happily, the client provided huge inspiration for our creative team. We developed a fascinating 2.5 minute ride around the stadium and packed the ride with dozens of activities from the stadium’s rich sports, history, and cultural life.
We wanted to honor the achievements of the football club residing in the stadium. A part of the ride is dedicated to their victories. We put a lot of creative effort to ensure high dynamics for showcasing the trophies and medals; we hope true football fans will recognize them!
We use slow motion so that riders can enjoy the little fun details of the ride. Celebrate the win with the football team:
Slow motion is implemented for other key elements of the plot: during a goal in a football match and during a stadium concert to highlight the diverse activity of the stadium. This creative technique allows the rider to feel like a blockbuster character in the middle of an intense scene.
We hired a team of scouts to photograph the streets around the stadium so that we could re-create the area in detail in 3D. These pics were then downloaded into our custom-made GIS service. It saved time for our 3D modelers, as they skipped the initial research stage and used the photo base for creating the models.
The stadium has a magnificent state-of-art retractable roof that definitely needed a place in the plot of the ride:
We added more functions to the cart compared with our previous rides:
1. For this ride, the cart complements the plot of the ride with theme cards; they show relevant dates and numbers and encourage the rider on the way.
The style of the infographics on the screen is inspired by vintage Dutch sports posters with their condensed typefaces and collage graphics.
2. Now the rider has a realistic virtual body sitting in the cart. The hands are moving and supporting the plot; riders see themselves cheering the musicians at a huge stadium concert. This feature adds to the psychological comfort of the riders and boosts immersion.
