How did we come up with the idea of Salsa XR?
JetXR, our XR production department, always aims to keep up with the industry’s progress. Several years ago we all realized MR/XR would be the next big thing, so it was time to prepare for the technological leap. In 2018 we started working on a Mixed reality pet project. The goal was to experiment with UX patterns and find a practical real-time application of MR.
At the same time Alex Markin, JetXR’s Creative Director, was going to visit Cuba for the first time... What is more Cuban than Salsa? While getting ready for the trip, Alex took a few salsa classes to absorb the local vibe: “What I absorbed was pain: at first it was really hard to keep up with the group; everything was just too fast”.
Salsa is a partner dance, but it makes sense to practice basic steps at your own pace. Extra practice at home boosts your confidence and ultimately enriches the process of dancing with a partner. So Alex’s passion for salsa gave the momentum to development of our pet project, and we created Salsa XR. Whether you like dancing or or you’re a fan of XR, we’re sure you’ll enjoy Salsa XR.
