Challenge

Ozon is one of the largest online retailers in Russia. Their IT laboratory employs over a thousand engineers developing the website and other services.

To bring the company to the level of tech giants, the Ozon team needs more first-class specialists – both in IT and in other areas: logistics, fulfillment, marketing, finance and commerce. Our challenge was to create a job vacancy service that would attract specialists of all profiles.

Solution

We have combined all vacancies into 3 main sections: Logistics and fulfillment, IT laboratory, Office. For each of them, we created a landing page with a universal structure.

This case study is about our work on the first version of the service. In 2021, the Ozon development team released their own version of the service, and that’s a completely different story.

Conditions and bonuses

All job seekers have different motivations and ideas about the ideal job. We took this into account – for each group of vacancies we created a separate "Conditions and bonuses" block and drew icons.

Ozon in your city

The geography of Ozon job vacancies covers the whole country. And to make the search easier, we have drawn icons for each city in the form of the most recognisable local buildings.

Focus on IT

We have expanded the content of the IT laboratory landing page to make it more attractive to applicants: we have added a list of technologies used and other details about working at Ozon, as well as photos and quotes from team leads and the ability to send a CV directly to a particular leader.

Job vacancy page

We made the typography of the vacancy text clean and clear: we highlighted the header with colour, added icons to information about the city, the required experience and employment, and put key skills in aseparate column. This way, information is read easily and nothing distracts job applicants from the main thing. On the page, we have provided the opportunity to apply yourself or recommend a friend.

What else we have done

In addition to the general part of the service, we have provided two internal access levels for those who already work in Ozon. One is for all employees (we have developed the design), and the other is for HR only (we have developed the design and software).

All job applications from the site are stored in separate access for HR, divided into three categories: new people, employees and recommendations. There are also applications from interested people who have not yet found a suitable vacancy. The data is presented in the form of tables with different sorts: by time, specialisation, etc.

The applications from authorised Ozon employees are considered first. Employees can also recommend a friend and, if hired, receive a bonus.
